Teens: Do you feel that you have a reliable place to go for advice?

Do you have someplace you can go to get advice from someone who understands your problem and gives advice that you can actually follow, and helps to solve your problem?Teens: Do you feel that you have a reliable place to go for advice?
I agree, parents only add to stress. Its like when you think your situation cant get any worse your parents find out and it is 10x worse than beforeTeens: Do you feel that you have a reliable place to go for advice?
Not really. I'm thinking of going to my school counselor, but I keep procrastinating over it. And she's a part-time counselor, which doesn't help very much either. I just need to catch her walking somewhere or something. So for right now I just write a lot, and that helps me a lot.
depends on the situation
Not really no

because they always feel the need to get parents involved which i dont want

and i hate talking which doesn't help
I always recommend first parents, because even if a parent seems strict, and the teen thinks the question might get them in trouble for even asking it, nobody loves you more than a parent, and you won't know that until you bring your questions to them. Some parents are not able to be there, for a variety of reasons, and then hopefully there is another adult in the family who will be there--an aunt or uncle, an older cousin, a step-sibling. After that there's school. Teachers, nurses and counselors have dedicated their lives to helping their students get the information they need to be educated, healthy, safe, and happy, so I see them as a very important source of advice and support and help. A primary care physician is also a good source and is a gateway to others who can help, including psychologist and social workers. Also, helplines can be a good source for referrals in the teens area, but they have to be careful with some of those, as they can have a set agenda and not offer a full range of options and advice in their offer to help. I'm thinking Church of Scientology/anti-psychology stance and anti-abortion organizations/birth and adoption only stance. Teens at least deserve to know about the full range of options available to them, and this brings me back to parents as the best resource, if they are in the teens life and able to help.
